1. Goal Setting
Every strategy starts with a goal. Without one, you're creating content without direction and that never works long-term.
Use the S.M.A.R.T. framework to set goals:
- Specific — What exactly do you want to achieve?
- Measurable — How will you track progress?
- Attainable — Is this realistic given the client's current standing?
- Relevant — Does this goal align with the client's business objectives?
- Timely — What's the target timeframe?
After setting goals, establish your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) — the specific metrics you'll use to measure success. Common KPIs include reach, engagement rate, follower growth, website clicks, and leads generated.
💡 TIP: The most common goals are: growing followers, increasing engagement, and building brand awareness. Start with 1–2 clear goals per client rather than trying to achieve everything at once.
2. Target Audience Analysis
You can't create effective content without knowing who you're talking to. Every content decision like what you post, how you write, which platform you use, should come back to your client's target audience.
To define the target audience, answer these questions:
- Who are they? (Age, gender, location, occupation, income level)
- What problem do they have that your client's service or product solves?
- What are their goals, frustrations, and interests?
